determinant of the hankel matrix with binomial entries

abstract in this thesis at first we comput the determinant of hankel matrix with enteries a_k (x)=?_(m=0)^k??((2k+2-m)¦(k-m)) x^m ? by using a new operator, ? and by writing and solving differential equation of order two at points x=2 and x=-2 . also we show that this determinant under k-binomial transformation is invariant.

The resonance amplitude associated with the Gamow states

The Gamow states describe the quasinormal modes of quantum systems. It is shown that the resonance amplitude associated with the Gamow states is given by the complex delta function. It is also shown that under the near-resonance approximation of neglecting the lower bound of the energy, such resonance amplitude becomes the Breit-Wigner amplitude. This result establishes the precise connection b...

Generalizing the Algebra of Physical Quantities

In this paper, I define and study an abstract algebraic structure, the dimensive algebra, which embodies the most general features of the algebra of dimensional physical quantities. I prove some elementary results about dimensive algebras and suggest some directions for future work. Copyright © 2003 Mark F. Sharlow. Updated 2009.

On the Representation of Physical Quantities

In this paper we investigate the forms in which quantity information can appear in written natural language. Our focus is on physical quantities found in descriptions of physical processes, such as expansion, movement, or transfer. Using Qualitative Process Theory as our underlying formalism, we show how information extracted from natural language text corresponds to the five constituents of ph...
